What do you need?
The application process is not the same at every university. Always check the page of your desired study programme first.
First find out what fits you
Take your time. This stage is about orientation, not speed.
- Choose a study programme and a university.
- Check whether your previous qualification allows you to study in Germany.
- Check the language requirements of that specific programme.
- Check how applying works at that university.
Can you study directly with your qualification?
With a foreign school-leaving certificate it must be checked whether it gives you direct university access in Germany. Depending on the qualification, a preparatory course (Studienkolleg) or previous study time may be required first.
- Check your qualification in an official admissions database and then confirm the requirements with your chosen university. The final decision about your admission is made by the university.
Translating and certifying documents
Before you have anything translated or certified: clarify with the responsible office which form is really required.
Entry and residence
For entry and residence a visa or residence permit may also be required. You clarify that in your entry and residence task.
This is orientation, not legal advice. Please check the details at the official source.
