What is it?
A Wohnungsgeberbestätigung confirms that you have actually moved into a home. You normally need it to register your address.
Who provides it?
Your housing provider, usually the landlord, or an authorised person. For a sublet, this may be the main tenant.
How do you use it?
Ask the housing provider to complete and sign the form. Present it when registering in person. For a supported online registration, upload a digital copy. Do not upload your rental contract instead.
What must it contain?
The housing provider’s name and address, the owner’s name if different, the move-in date, the home’s address and the names of the people moving in.
Why is the template in German?
The confirmation goes to the registration office. The official language is German, so the template is in German.
