When you are posted, you remain employed by your employer abroad and work in Germany for a limited time.
The essentials
- Even when posted, the German minimum wage, maximum working hours, minimum holiday and health and safety rules apply, among others.
- The A1 certificate shows that you are still covered by social security in your home country. Carry it with you at work.
- If the posting lasts longer than 12 months, almost all German working conditions apply. With a justification, this can be extended to 18 months.
- Employer abroad
- Temporary work in Germany
- A1 certificate
- German minimum rules apply
If the employer provides housing, it must meet certain minimum standards. Costs for travel, housing and food caused by the posting may not simply be deducted from the minimum wage.
MeaNext explains general rules about work in Germany. This information does not replace individual legal advice. In a specific case, your employment contract, collective agreement, works agreement and personal circumstances can be decisive.
